Designed for Restaurant Barr in Copenhagen by Snøhetta in collaboration with Table Noir, the Barr cutlery translates the restaurant’s tactile, informal architecture into a balanced place setting. Recognisable cut-outs, aligned proportions and substantial handles give the pieces a shared visual rhythm.
The Satin Matte version gives the stainless steel a soft, even surface and a restrained expression. Each piece is hand polished to remove sharp edges, including between the fork tines.
Choose a setting for 4, 8 or 12 people. Every place setting contains a table knife, table fork, table spoon and teaspoon.

Snøhetta is the internationally acclaimed Norwegian architecture and design studio. For Restaurant Barr in Copenhagen, Snøhetta worked in close collaboration with Table Noir to translate the restaurant’s architecture, identity and atmosphere into a bespoke cutlery collection.
The collaboration approached cutlery as part of the complete dining experience rather than as an isolated object. Details from Barr’s interior architecture were carried directly into the design: a characteristic groove found throughout the restaurant’s woodwork reappears along the shaft of the cutlery, creating both a visual connection and a natural resting place for the index finger. A discreet flat plane on the underside stabilises each piece on the table, while weight and dimensions were carefully tuned for balance in the hand and the practical rhythms of restaurant service.
Material and surface became part of the same story. Barr’s interior draws on microscopic references to barley — barr meaning barley in Old Nordic — and these details informed the stone-washed finish used in the restaurant. The softly textured surface was conceived to develop naturally through use while retaining its warm, tactile character.
The result is a design in which architecture, gastronomy and the object in the hand become part of one composition: cutlery created not simply for Restaurant Barr, but from the restaurant itself.
