A lily-shaped handle with floral ornament gives the series a decorative, classical expression.
When designing for the table, the focus is balance, restraint and the feeling of holding something that already belongs in your hand.
Robert Berking
Jardin changes character when it is seen as a complete setting. The softly sweeping handles and floral details begin to repeat like stems and leaves across the table, creating a visual rhythm between plates, glassware and flowers. What feels like a delicate botanical reference in a single piece becomes part of the architecture of the entire table.
Because repetition is part of the design. On a large table, the curved silhouettes start to echo one another from place to place. The effect is decorative without relying on excessive ornament: the cutlery itself contributes to the composition, almost like another layer of the floral arrangement.
In Jardin, it almost can. The collection already carries a botanical language in its handles, so flowers, linen and tableware do not need to work as hard to create atmosphere. The cutlery becomes one of the visual elements that shapes the setting, particularly when many pieces are arranged together.
A garden is rarely about a single flower. Its character comes from repetition, variation and the relationship between individual forms. Jardin works in much the same way: the larger set allows Robert Berking’s lily-like curves and floral motifs to appear across different pieces and functions, creating a fuller expression of the original design idea.
Both. Robbe & Berking connects Jardin with the idea of festive dining outdoors, but its refined proportions also give it enough presence for a formal interior table. That duality is part of its charm: it can feel romantic beneath trees in summer and equally composed beside porcelain and crystal indoors.
